A Museum You Can Play
The game selection at Pinball Land has been curated with the care and attention of any great museum exhibit. We showcase video arcade games and pinball machines from many eras, ranging from the early 70’s all the way to brand-new releases. Some of the most influential, important games of all time are not only on display, but available for you to actually play!
Your field trip tour guide will give your students a bit of history on the games and classic arcades in general, giving them the context they need to develop an appreciation for this amazing American art form. It’s fun and fascinating to see where today’s most popular games have their roots.
Under the Hood of a Pinball Machine
Ever wonder how a pinball machine works? Have you ever thought about what goes on under the playfield? Or behind that beautiful backglass artwork? Your tour guide will actually open up a real pinball machine and show your group how it works! Concepts such as electromagnetism, mechanical engineering, graphic design, material sciences, and geometry will be discussed in the age-appropriate presentation.
Technology Over Time
We all know that technology has improved over time, but your students will get an unforgettable appreciation for this fact when they see original arcade game hardware at work. We will present your group with a real arcade game circuit board and compare its components with modern technology. It’s amazing what 40 years of advancements will do to the size and weight of computer technology! Your group will be inspired to imagine what the next 40 years will bring.
Customized Curriculum
Are you studying something specific in class that you would like your arcade field trip to augment? We can do that, too! The owner and operator of Pinball Land, Ryan Thompson, has over 20 years of experience producing and performing curriculum-appropriate, in-house field trips nationwide. He has written and refined over thirty different school assembly programs and in-house field trips prior to opening Pinball Land. With a background like that, we are fully capable of customizing your experience to enhance what you are actively discussing in class.
Arcade Field Trip Schedule
All Pinball Land Field Trips are 2-hours long and take place in the morning before we open, Tuesday thru Friday. The field trip experience consists of an educational presentation as well as plenty of time for your students to cut loose and play.
